Oetzi bled out from an arrow wound, the flint head was still in his body.

It’s interesting to think that he was one of a group, and since his death was probably within minutes, if the rest of the group was also killed, there may be more such finds in the Alps’ nooks and crannies.

That is an intriguing thought.

Oetzi must have been nearly flash frozen to be in as good a shape as he is. Bleeding out may have assisted that process. I wonder if he may have even frozen to death before the blood loss stopped his heart. Or the two factors working together make it a tossup as to which was the primary cause of death.

Hypothermia would slow blood loss but blood loss would increase hypothermia. The fight must have taken place in severe weather conditions.

Finding the body of someone from his group would be fantastic but finding the body and belongings of someone from the group that attacked him would yield an astronomical leap in information about the whole scene. Maybe they should do some sonar scans of the area.
