It’s kind of stunning to think about but when Jesus walked the earth
Otzi had been chilling on ice for 3,285 years already.

Perhaps we should clone him to find out who shot him

Scientists believe the Iceman was approximately 46 years old when he died
Why 46? If you're estimating the age of a guy who lived 5300 years ago, why not 45 years old?
Is the 46th year significant in some way?

It said he took an arrow to the back but died of a head injury. Do you suppose the arrow was still in his back? Otherwise how would they know about the arrow?

They sawed through him and counted the rings.

Oetzi bled out from an arrow wound, the flint head was still in his body.

It’s interesting to think that he was one of a group, and since his death was probably within minutes, if the rest of the group was also killed, there may be more such finds in the Alps’ nooks and crannies.

Egyptian mummies were intentionally preserved — Oetzi just slipped into a hole and got covered with ice later.

Oetzi was blood type O-positive, was Y-haplogroup G2a4-L91, mitochondria haplogroup K1, was lactose intolerant, was predisposed to coronary heart disease and stroke, suffered from atherosclerosis, had Lyme disease (may have cleared it), and had brown eyes.

Probably some local ne’er-do-wells were killing him either for their own jollies, or robbery, or were hungry cannibals. He was carrying arrows, but probably everyone did. :’)

Right? And when they were digging the guy out of the snow, they just thought they’d found some hiker or skier who’d been lost so they kind of roughed him out of the snow and broke his balls, literally. If they had been more careful they could have had his junk which would have been frozen sperm and, well, you should know what they could have done. “Hey, Granpa!

" red blood cells have been found in Egyptian Mummies that are nearly as old as the Iceman...its about one-upmanship and bragging rights "

YUP. You'd think they'd look around a little before bragging.

Bye, Bye Beringia (8,000 Year Old Site In Florida)

"*Skeletal remains of 169 people, split almost evenly between males and females, ranging from 6 to 70 years old. About 75 of the skeletons were relatively intact.
*90 intact human brains that include the oldest DNA samples in the World.
*Artifacts of wood, bone, and seed that were made into jewelry and tools, providing insight into the ancient peoples' lives.
*Tests showed the oldest skeletons were buried 8,100 years ago. The youngest was placed in the ground 6,900 years ago. "To put this into context," Doran said, "these people had already been dead for 3,000 or 4,000 years before the first stones were laid for the Egyptian pyramids!"

Only seven days before this article, another article said:

‘Iceman Oetzi’ lived for a while after arrow wound
http://phys.org/news/2012-05-iceman-oetzi-arrow-wound.html#nRlv

My theory is that he took cover from his Italian pursuers(he was fleeing back home over the pass to Switzerland from a raid) He was bleeding out from the arrow wound in his back, but they found him and finished him off with a blow to the head.

“Taka that, you woman stealing Switzer!”

He had obviously pissed off some lowland dudes pretty bad for them to chase him that far up the mountain.

That is an intriguing thought.

Oetzi must have been nearly flash frozen to be in as good a shape as he is. Bleeding out may have assisted that process. I wonder if he may have even frozen to death before the blood loss stopped his heart. Or the two factors working together make it a tossup as to which was the primary cause of death.

Hypothermia would slow blood loss but blood loss would increase hypothermia. The fight must have taken place in severe weather conditions.

Finding the body of someone from his group would be fantastic but finding the body and belongings of someone from the group that attacked him would yield an astronomical leap in information about the whole scene. Maybe they should do some sonar scans of the area.

:’) They found no sausage casing neolithic condoms on the body, so you may be onto something. ;’)

That was just over three years ago though.
