Game wardens in Central Texas are trying to determine who killed an 11-foot alligator along the Lampasas River. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department on Thursday announced the investigation in an area above the Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir, near Belton.
400-Pound Gator Moved From Texas Pond to Preserve Authorities did not immediately provide additional information on when or how the alligator died or details on the carcass.
Texas law requires alligator hunters to be licensed, have permission from the landowner and secure a tag purchased upon harvest of the animal. The alligator must be hunted during open season for the area, running April through June.
TPWD officials say anyone with information on the slain alligator can contact Operation Game Thief officials at 1-800-792-GAME. Callers can remain anonymous.
Barry Soetoro and Reggie Love say that if they had a son, it would look like that alligator.
If I see a 400lb gator, I’m shooting it
What would happen to illegal immigration if we put a couple hundred of these in the Rio Grande?
What a croc.
The fecundity of alligators is crazy, plus, they’re one of the few reptiles that hold vigil over the nest area and tend to the young protectively after hatching.
I see many alligators in Texas’ future. On the bright side though, I hear thems good eatin’!
Maybe they’ll eat all the feral pigs.
Frankly though, I’d rather have the pigs.
Hogs are a good muzzy irritation bait meant to bring them out of hiding.
Yes a total waste of time and resources Texas as no shortage of alligators.
It is all about the state not getting their fees.
Most likely this gator had become a pest and some one took care of the problem.

WTF are they babbling about???? They moved this from someone’s personal “pond”?
If I had an 11’ gator in one of my stock tanks I would not be moving it, I would be inviting the neighbors over for some gator stew and beer.
Didn’t know there were gators in texas, thought they started in Louisiana and further east.
This 11 footer weighed 400 pounds. When the Swamp People show started, the announcer would always refer to the 8-900 lb beasts the guys were trapping. Lately he has been toning the weights way down into the normal range.
'Two people who were fishing along the Lampasas River above Stillhouse Hollow Lake reported that they euthanized a massive alligator whose killing game wardens are investigating, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Lt. Billy Champlin said Thursday.
The two called an agency hotline Wednesday after killing the 11-foot alligator, which they said got hung up on a hook while they were fishing with a drop line for catfish, Champlin said.
The callers led game wardens to the alligators carcass, he said.'
I heard a while back that they’ve been seen up to the Dismal Swamp in VA and the Mississippi to near Kansas.
Oh yeah crap loads of gators in Texas.
River we do our fishing on look like street lights at night when you go down it from their eyes.
Does sound odd. Something that big will normally snap a normal drop line hook.
May have been one of those, “Hey, Bubba, hold my beer and watch this.”
