For an army of women, Mr Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him. And the reason? When it comes to marriage, men are on strike.
Why? Because the rewards are far less than they used to be, while the cost and dangers it presents are far greater.
Ultimately, men know theres a good chance theyll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and if it all goes wrong their family, says Dr Helen Smith, author of Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood And The American Dream.
They dont want to enter into a legal contract with someone who could effectively take half their savings, pension and property when the honeymoon period is over.
Men arent wimping out by staying unmarried or being commitment phobes. Theyre being smart.

All 50 states have “no fault” divorce laws though, and all that really matters is who files the papers first.

Thank you.
I thought it was Single Jewish Women!
Ding...ding...ding....WINNER!..”me first” is the problem and also the lack of a religious background and base in a marriage.
Maybe the problem is that men are becoming less attractive as well.
Seems not working, partying, living in your Mom’s basement are increasingly acceptable lifestyle alternatives
Oh my...
Yes, I’m going to need eyebleach for that one.
I knew it wouldn’t take long.
The reason is simple.
They get sex for free. (Who says prostitutes are immoral? At least they demand something tangible for putting out.)
That is what they want, they get it, which also means multiples for more fun. Thus they cycle through mature childishness.
Well as the old saying goes -
Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?
Apparently you haven’t read alot of these FR anti-female reads. The true colors come out, and you see that indeed, there is plenty of misogyny and just plain sexism as there was in the past.
Which men salivate over.
Women think ey should look like what men want.
You completely blew past my point.
Why should the assets either party brings into the marriage suddenly become negotiable? If I inherited items from my parents or grandparents, sure as hell they should never be "divisible property."
Scott - you can weigh in on this. You did say: “upon divorcing you [she] gets at least half your stuff” didn’t you?
If a couple are married all the money coming into the marriage (that didn’t get spent) is usually divided. Money the individuals had prior to the marriage is not supposed to be counted and inheritances aren’t counted either.
When people lived off the land it was assumed that each contributed to the marriage. When men left the farms and brought home cash the value of the relative contributions changed.
As it turned out (the guy confided in my friend) the man had an extra bank account set up strictly for his ailing mother. When his wife, under urging from her divorce lawyer, claimed rights to that account, the guy went berserk and killed her. The guy told my friend his wife could have had anything else, but he wanted that money to go to his mother.
Now I don't condone what the guy did, and I'm no divorce lawyer so I have no idea if the guys "special" account has any legal bearing on total assets to be considered in divorce cases. But some women do press too far. In this case I blame the dead woman's divorce lawyer for getting her killed.
Actually it happened after heteroes became fast and loose and sex became all-important while simultaneously being trivialized.
We really cannot blame homos for jumping on board.
Theyd quickly get americanized and then youve shot yourself in the foot...
And scream in you in that high pitched Asian yammer....
::shudder::
Its real simple: A good marriage is one where each partner feels that they got the best part of the deal.
That doesn’t seem to happen any longer. Folks go into these relationships with the expectation of failure.
Your 20 year old son must have met my 19 year old son. The response is almost exact but my son added, “hook up mentality is the downfall of my generation”. He further explained that the lack of morality with HIS group of peers will probably eliminate marriage. My son has also said that you “can’t turn a wh@re into a housewife”. I listened with an open mind and all I can say is I pray for his generation.
