There is no way I would participate in this scheme.
These jerks are going to wind up ruining it for everybody.
Renting online to people you know nothing about. What could go wrong?
Not sure I would want to rent my house out, but hearing something like this makes me think its just too risky.
I read about this yesterday but couldn’t post it because it was in USA Today. Despicable! Didn’t the homeowners collect a deposit from the renters? (as if that would cover it.)
Still, is the little bit of chump change they will collect from the company worth the hassle?
Welcome to the hotel business, lady.
“Didnt the homeowners collect a deposit from the renters? (as if that would cover it.)”
It makes you look smarter if you read the article first.
That is the new millennial scheme here around in the city of Autism (Austin). People renting their houses/apartments to event chasers. Stupid.
“These jerks are going to wind up ruining it for everybody.”
Yep, I’ve gotten amazing deals and usually left the place cleaner than I found it.
I really want to bash these fools with a bat who are ruining it for all
It's quite risky even without news like that. Once you allow someone into your house you have a problem. Large companies who speciaize in rental property can deal with this - in part by having maintenance people on site, in part by purchasing insurance, and in part by just offsetting the losses by profits from other properties. It also helps to have a few lawyers on retainer, have a convenient rental contract, and know all your rights. A lone homeowner has none of that, and a bad renter can do pretty much whatever he wants, for a long time.
Many home insurance policies exclude business from being conducted from the house.
Kind of like morons electing someone they know nothing about president, only not as bad.
Thanks for that injection of Econ 101. Sad that people don’t know and don’t care!
Rent your house out to strangers. Really? How stupid is that! All sorts of unknown people can case your house for free, and then take their time while stealing it from you.
Dumb, dumb, dumb!
People rent thousands of rooms/apartments/houses through AirBnB every day. and 99%+ of the transactions work fine. I’ve rented several places, and always had a great experience.
I don't think anyone ever expected four renters to be a front for a party bus scheme.
This was premeditated.
