Most are former U.S. military. Many are also former members of A&M’s Corps of Cadets.
I assumed that most of them would be veterans of some sort, but they are not war time troops, nor true military.
Q: What are the general requirements to join TMAR?
A: The requirements for joining TMAR are the same as for joining the Texas State Guard (TXSG):
Resident of Texas or enrolled student
Age 17 to 60
Reasonable Good Health
Pass criminal background check
Prior Military Service NOT required
Helpful skill sets: Law Enforcement, Legal, Rescue, Medical [Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics], Civil Affairs, Chaplain, Communications and IT
No educational requirement for enlistment
Educational and age requirements exist for officer commissioning
Federal Service retirement NOT affected
NO overseas deployment
