So a liberal and conservative can like each other and have interests that are higher priorities to them than politics and thus, can date. The only people who would find this to be surprising are liberals, who translate political positions into all-encompassing judgments about others.

As detective said, a lot of unexpected rock stars (Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, Kid Rock) are conservative politically but keep it on the ‘down low’ except for USO gigs or other beneifts like Gary Sinise’s Lt Dan band
