Well, Dahmer did have the neighbors over for dinner, so he couldn’t have been that bad of a guy.
When Dahmer was arrested (c. 1991), I was working at a place where the morning traffic was awful. Accordingly, everybody showed up at least 45 minutes early, then sat around reading the newspaper and BSing.
With the Dahmer story in the news, one morning Harold, a particularly short fused fellow, arrived last. Another coworker, Al, a clever sort, asked Harold if he had seen the news about Dahmer making bail. The short fused Harold hit the ceiling. “No, don’t tell me they did that!!”
Al then said, “Yeah, but it’s gonna cost him an arm and a leg.”
Harold then sheepishly asked for the sports page.
