Thanks for the link. Saw him last June in Phoenix. Not the same guy who climbed on speakers and piano that I saw back on the 52nd St tour but still put on a wonderful show. Joel’s one of the greats. Think he’s still under-appreciated because of the remaining residue of the so-called experts who dissed him in comparison to Bruuuuuce in the early days.
He’s a big-time lib and all, but still, The Stranger is still one of the best albums, ever.
Oh yeah he's a crazy lib but thankfully he isn't a pontificating blowhard about it in his music or when he's performing. Agree about Stranger. It's aged really well.
Did just recall that he was a bit of a sermonizing Lefty in his famous Russian concert. Naively compared life in America to life in Soviet Union and then went into some wince-inducing Kumbaya about music resolving political differences.
Musicians are all like that (maybe with the exception of Ted Nugent, of course)
He makes a point of never making political statements on stage because 1. “You insult half your audience” and 2. “What if I’m wrong?”
