I feel kinda stupid, having spent an extensive amount of time in Manhattan and not visiting his mausoleum.
It will be on my list of non-negotiables next time.
It’s very surreal. Because it is out of the way, on 122nd and Riverside all the way uptown near the Hudson river, not many tourists visit it especially during the week. So you could very well be alone walking into this giant memorial and there’s just one security guard sitting inside at a desk. It’s the closest I ever got to a Civil war general not to mention a US President. NYC is also where Gen. William T. Sherman died on 71nd street. I read Sherman use to call the rebels “Democrats” LOL!
