How did they manage this without Dilithium crystals?Didn't they get those from Harcourt Fenton Mudd, or maybe it was from those miners on that distant planet, who were looking for wives?

You don’t need dilithium silly, that’s just a gimmick they came up with to control a matter antimatter reaction as a power source. You could power the warp field generator any way but of course antimatter gets you the most bang for your buck.
