Offended by satire, incorrect costuming, and inappropriate feather placement, a group of about a dozen American Indian actors walked off the set of an Adam Sandler comedy Wednesday, according to a report in Indian Country. Apparently, the actors were shocked to learn that Indians would not be inoculated from satire in the Ridiculous Six Western spoof, and that a comedy film wasnt terribly interested in historical accuracy.
Things came to a head when one of the producers told one of the actors, If you guys are so sensitive, you should leave. [emphasis added]
Approximately a dozen Native actors and actresses, as well as the Native cultural advisor, left the set of Adam Sandlers newest film production, The Ridiculous Six, on Wednesday. The actors, who were primarily from the Navajo nation, left the set after the satirical westerns script repeatedly insulted native women and elders and grossly misrepresented Apache culture.
The examples of disrespect included Native womens names such as Beavers Breath and No Bra, an actress portraying an Apache woman squatting and urinating while smoking a peace pipe, and feathers inappropriately positioned on a teepee.
When I began doing this film, I had an uneasy feeling inside of me and I felt so conflicted, she said. I talked to a former instructor at Dartmouth and he told me to take this as finally experiencing stereotyping first hand. We talked to the producers about our concerns. They just told us, If you guys are so sensitive, you should leave. I was just standing there and got emotional and teary-eyed. I didnt want to cry but the feeling just came over me.
The key phrase is the examples of disrespect.
Huh?
Wut?

"It's Headley!"
“Hast du gesehen in deine leiben, dey darker den us...WOOF!”
Screamingly funny. Not.
Blazing Saddles sure couldn’t be made today. Neither could Animal House, especially the scene in the black night club. The 70s were the last time that people could just take a joke I guess.
That’s pretty much a requirement in Adam Sandler movies. How could they not know that?
Or "Vacation" when they drive through East St. Louis.
Bring in some Italians to replace these casino-owning malcontents. That’s who played Indian parts back in Hollywood’s golden era
Including this Paisan.
“It’s Headley!”
Hedy Lamarr wound up taking Mel Brooks to court over that one, and settled with him. Beauty, brains, but not much humor;)
“What are you worried about, this is 1874, you can sue her.”
Enjoying self parody is a sign of strength.
It is fashionable to have no sense of humor.
Thats why more and more comics wont work colleges.
When MOST people are looking to be offended, well, its not fun anymore.
We see that here.
The 70s were the last time that people could just take a joke I guess.

F em if they can’t take a joke......famous quote.
Or “Joke ‘em if they can’t take an F”
If I were an investor in this project, I’d be demanding to know what chucklehead authorized hiring a Native cultural advisor for a Sandler potty fest in the first place.
No big deal. Just do it like Mel Brooks - get some Jewish guys from Brooklyn and put some war-paint on them.
I love the nightclub scene in “Animal House” !
There was a film made in 2002 called “Sorority Boys”
It’s actually very funny and if you watch close you will see a few actors from “Animal House” doing short cameos.
By 2002 the force was strong with political correctness and the film did not do well...
