After just one day of being planted, someone vandalized and destroyed a tree planted in memory of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
A memorial stone placed at the foot of the tree is also missing, according to a local news channel. The memorial tree was planted by members of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.
Caucus members had planted the tree in January-Wabash Memorial Park on Saturday and just one day later, community members found it destroyed. Another tree featured in a local news report was completely destroyed just a few meters away from the tree planted in honor of Michael Brown

Burn that beech down!
Hell, I would have cut the tree down.
Yep. My thought too.
“Limbs up, don’t root!”
I thought a tree was a nice idea. Michael Brown had the potential to be a decent human being, and that potential was completely wasted long before he made the news as a dead bully and thug. The tree would have been the first good thing to come from his entire life, and now it’s gone like him.
“Desecrate a memorial to a thug? Was that said with a straight face?”
The term ‘memorial’ is a perfect one for leftists. If anything is deemed as a ‘memorial’, it can’t be criticized. Not only that, if you don’t actively support it, you are considered to be a racist, bigoted, right wing caricature.
No0t only was the term ‘said’, a newswriter actually ‘wrote’ it with a straight face.
I try to see the good in people, I really do. But the older I get, the more I realize that there is a predatory class - all they do is take.
Now I understand that Mike Brown could not control where he was born, who he was born to, or the conditions he grew up in...and I pity him for having been born into a bad situation.
But...where do you draw the line. Some people are just downright dangerous. No matter how he got to that point, Mike Brown was at a point where he seemingly thought nothing about committing strong arm robbery or attacking a cop. I’ve seen people with similar backgrounds go down a very familiar road. They commit increasingly violent crimes, with relatively light slaps on the wrist, until they do something extraordinarily violent and get themselves imprisoned for decades. To me it looked like that was Brown’s path. And quite frankly, this is why we have prisons - some people will always be predators.
So philosophically, what’s wrong with a memorial? I guess it just waters down the meaning of a memorial. This was in a public park - there isn’t enough room in the public park for a memorial to every resident who ever dies, so who gets a slot? Seems logical that somebody who accomplished something or was in some way inspiring would be first in line. But per the story, the adjacent memorial ‘in memory of a deceased pet’ was also damaged. So their memorials are just a money making scheme by the parks department - with no real litmus test, except for cash.
I try to see the good in people, I really do. But the older I get, the more I realize that there is a predatory class - all they do is take.
