The outside world is a dangerous place for housecats. We've got barn owls and bald eagles around here that could easily haul a cat away. Then there are the coyotes that have the run of the countryside and often come into town late at night.
Just this winter I woke up to find tracks of several coyotes all along my fence.
I catch all kinds of varmints and dump them in the state land a few miles away.
