Today’s departures includes CF-18 Hornet fighter aircraft which will transit to 3 Wing Bagotville before their flight to Kuwait on Operation IMPACT.
The Canadian contribution to coalition operations against ISIL includes:
Six CF-18 Hornet fighter aircraft.
One CC-150T Polaris aerial refueller to support coalition air operations.
Two CP-140M Aurora surveillance aircraft to provide reconnaissance capabilities.
Approximately 600 personnel, including aircrew support elements, such as command and control and logistics. This includes 70 members of the Canadian Armed Forces already working with American forces in an advisory and assistance role by providing strategic and tactical advice to Iraqi security forces.
I should also mention we just took our first casualty..
