I almost hate to say it, but the best thing to happen would be for Mr. Roberts to mercifully pass away. With 40% of his brain gone, he has not hope of being anything other than a vegetable for the rest of his life, and if he lives, the most the filthy beasts that attacked him will be charged with is attempted murder - i.e. out of prison in 5 years. If he dies, there's a chance they'll spend the rest of their lives in prison or even face execution (not sure whether PA is a death penalty state or not).
