Texas would not have stayed in the Confederacy for long I don’t think. Too independent. It would have rebelled, and become a separate nation again.

Lincoln lead the fight against the rebellion started by the Confederacy and led by Lee.

Boothe should have been given a metal for what he did.

He did get some metal. Lead. In the form of a bullet fired by a Union soldier. But if you point is that he got what was coming to him then I agree.

Lincoln did not start the war, either over slavery or preserving the union or to diminish ‘state’s rights’.

The war was started by SC militia attacking Federal property in Charleston harbor.

What happened after that and how it affected the nation’s future will long be the subject of heated debate.
