We will pat ourselves on the back that we have whipped Ebola. Then it will be back with a vengeance.Entirely possible. New cases have surfaced because the virus endures in the semen of those who have recovered, long after they are 'well' (60+ days).
We are forced to rely on such statistics as are made available, too, and with aid funding and supplies declining, there remains strong economic incentive to be proclaimed Ebola-free.

I don't think any thing was "whipped"....diseases like this are opportunistic and attack certain populations for the most part...
sure, occasionally they'll be outliers but mostly this is a disease of Africa and its people...
