Liked the first book.
Didn’t like the sequels.

And the 1984 movie was one of the worst scifi movies of all times.

the movies are impossible to comprehend without having read the book. too much inner dialogue in the book.

As might be said in Dune by Paul Atriedes, “You speak the truth!” with regard to the sequels and the first movie attempt. I understand the same violence was done fairly recently to the classic The Hobbit, too, but I learned my lesson with Dune. Live and learn.

The 2000 SciFi channel Miniseries was much better.

Closer to the book and didn’t have “Sting” trying to act.

It’s out of print now so buy it used, the new price is a bit high.
