A milestone in mainstreaming the queering of America. Which doesn’t lack for fans on this thread.

I tend to agree, it came out right at the time Glam Music (David Bowie) was becoming popular as well.

I think this sounds great.

Enjoyed the original, and I’m looking forward to the remake.

Kudos to Fox for this.

They never ask the question, “Why was this movie popular, and with who?”

It was not mainstream popular. Even though it had a small budget, about $1.2 million, its initial run was mediocre, at best, but because it was based on the stage production, it worked as a crossover, staying alive in limited release.

Then it was discovered by its dedicated audience.

Teens caught up in the adolescent confusion about sexual/social inhibition, anxiety, and license. It made them a *little* uncomfortable with ideas about androgyny, heterosexuality and homosexuality; but it did so in the context of what looked like a high school quality stage production musical.

In other words, it had lots of elements that teens like, it looked like the actors were having fun and partying, and perhaps most of all, they were watching it in an audience of their peers.

So, how do you do a remake of that?

You bring your knees in tight.
But it’s the pelvic thrust.
They really drive you insane.
Let’s do the Time Warp again.
Let’s do the Time Warp again.

Sorry the originals are always the best. Now who can play Tim Curry’s role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter? The only person who I can see playing that role is Obama. =)

Taped events for TV are just filmed stage performances without an audience. “The Sound of Music” and “Peter Pan” lacked dynamics and energy and fell flat as a result. I’ll expect very little from this latest attempt.

Yeah, Curry projects "something" off-putting in all of his roles.

Didn't know if it was acting or his natural personality.

I remember reading that Kristin Scott Thomas was so into her character all the time, even off hours during the filming of "Gosford Park", that she ended up apologizing to cast and crew when somebody told her (one way or another).

Perhaps Curry is the same way?

Surprised Curry was in “The Hunt for Red October.”

Now who can play Tim Curry’s role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter?

How about the Mayor of Chicago.

OMG ROFL ROFL I didn’t even thought about her. Infact, Rahm looks like Tim Curry in that photo - perfect!

Next to “Cool Hand Luke”, that may be my favorite movie to watch.

It was fun. I have it on CD (both American and British versions) and break it out about once a year.
