Word For The Day, April 10, 2015 BRUME
BRUME
Noun
1.mist; fog.
Origin: Brume entered English in the 1800s. By way of French and Provençal, it stems from the Latin word brūma, which means "winter" and is a contraction of brevima diēs meaning "shortest day."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
I was sweepimg off the back deck when a vast, impenetrable fog moved it. I set my sweeping instrument down and went into the house until the fog lifted. When It did I noticed my sweeping implement was gone. I had lost my broom to a brume!

That’s it folks, the show’s over- The fat lady has sung.
In aviation, the French word ‘Brume’, abbreviated ‘br’, meaning ‘mist’, also nicknamed ‘Baby Rain’ to help people remember what it means, is used as the French helped create the meteorological reporting system used in aviation.
Meteorological reporting standards is a common element worldwide in aviation. If you can read it in English you can read it in German, French, or any other language.
This is now officially out of control. I cannot deal with bear/bare/baire/ and stay out of trouble.
I didn’t know the French studied anything except lady parts. ;-)

You've heard the adage, 'A New Broom Sweeps Clean.' well, Hillary™ will be riding her old one,
emerging from her brume this weekend to announce the "unexpected" candidacy
Then there’s the guy walking around in a fog who went into a local beer-maker & asked:
“Could’ja brume one of your finest?”
"I do not think that word means what you think it means."
It is 65, misting with thunderstorms predicted for later-I went and covered up everything at work earlier, so it will stay dry.
Last night at about 10 I was walking Husky girl on the path near the river, looking to see if the spook was at the rock seats, using a flashlight to light the way. The neighbors on the next property had company over and they were sitting on the grass in the dark facing the path.
All of a sudden, someone whispered look, look-there it is, and there was a small commotion-so I stopped, told the dog to heel, stood still and said hey, hola-it’s just me walking my dog. There was a burst of laughter and the neighbor guy said oh, s*** my hair stood up when I saw that flashlight beam there-we’d just been telling our friends about the spook light by the rock seats, and all of a sudden there was the light-we thought you were the ghost. I said, well that is what I was down here to look for too-maybe it does not like all this activity. We all moved up from the path, got quiet and watched for awhile, but the ghost light didn’t appear.
LOL
I thought ghosts were supposed to be fond of appearing in the brume, but apparently this one is not-I have seen that light when it was in the 20’s, with a few snowflakes flying in the wind.
I think there is a small-very small-possibility it could be just another person who likes walking alone at night-since everyone around here knows the story of the ghost light, and the man who committed suicide here, maybe that person accidentally was mistaken for the ghost-like I nearly was-gets a kick out of being part of the story and goes down there with a flashlight, lights and smokes a cigar or cigarette there by the rock seats, and quietly goes away if someone comes along.
A nude in a brume, sweeps unseen.
hahaha.
That’s funny and I smiled, then the goose bumps went up my arms. LOL
