These are the same idiots that killed a healthy giraffe for no reason!

Unusual for the two to even interact. Herbivores tend to ignore each other, especially since giraffe are the best lookouts of all in the wild. Safety in numbers usually keeps the herbivores happy enough in each others’ company.

Ølberg apologized to visitors affected in a press release put out on Monday night.

“The animal kingdom is occasionally brutal, " he said. "But we don’t think it’s nice that so many of our visitors, large and small, got an involuntary insight into this today."

I'm thinking that it can't be really harmful, either, for people to see some of the brutality of the animal kingdom. Teaching people an unrealistic view of animals living in peaceful harmony in the forest leads to animal rights activism, vegetarianism, and other pathologies.

There is no excuse to be cruel to animals, but there is also no excuse for letting people believe fantasies about animals, either.

Must have been Eland mating season. A stuck in the fence giraffe looked like a challenge for mating rights.

So now everyone is traumatized! That’s why you shouldn’t keep giraffes in Norway.

In Africa, no one would’ve batted an eye.
