it stops and then starts moving backwards about 20 feet and into the hole. Now somebody explain how that could possibly happen in real life.

Oh, come on.....these guys are Pros; they hit the ball from the tee in such a way that when it hits a solid green, the back "English" makes it roll backwards.

A downward slope towards the pin helps matters out too.

BTW, Jack has probably played that same hole hundreds of times.

Thanks for the explanation. During the few times when I play golf, that never happens for me. The ball just hits the ground and keeps rolling forward to a stop. Hopefully it does not stop in the water or in the woods.
