Dittos to that! That opening in Japan crap was pure insanity, among other things.

On the other hand it was novel to see the Dodgers play the DBacks in Sydney on the hallowed ground of the SCG last year in the middle of spring training with the games as part of the regular season.

Tigers 3rd or 4th in the division.

"door of opportunity" not just closed...but slammed & welded shut.

Too bad...they had their chance to get 1 for Mr., I but Dombrowski/Leyland blew it.

Now they join the Phillies with big $$$ contracts, top ten payrolls...and mediocre teams.

"Watch them earn their stripes!"...no thanks.

...oh, and Nathan's an arse opening.

Is Verlander still with that young’n blonde actress gal he was with? (I don’t remember her name but she packs a pair of .44 Cal. fun bags that might re-float the Titanic.)

Don’t know but this was going on last August

Kate Upton Says the Yankees Told Her She Couldn’t Wear Tigers’ Gear at Yankee Stadium

Earlier this week Kate Upton watched Justin Verlander pitch at Yankee Stadium from the Legends seats and received a ball from her beau. Friday Upton filled in for Kelly Ripa, taking the co-host chair next to Michael Strahan on Live! with Kelly and Michael. The conversation turned toward baseball (around the 2:35 mark of the video above) and Upton mentioned she was a Yankees fan, but her allegiances have since changed because she’s, “sleeping with the enemy.”

Throughout the story, Upton never mentions her boyfriend who plays for the Tigers (Verlander) by name. Strahan eventually asked if he’s allowed to say Verlander’s name, as if it’s some state secret. (Upton and Verlander have continually played it coy about their relationship.)

Upton also recounted that the Yankees wouldn’t allow her to wear any Tigers gear in her seat during the game. Upton said, “They specifically told me, the Yankees told me, they’re like, ‘You’re not allowed to wear a Tigers’ hat. You’re not allowed to wear any Tigers’ gear.’ It’s like a bad breakup.”

Clearly the Yankees didn’t want a repeat of what happened circa 1992 when a woman named Elaine Benes wore an Orioles hat in the owner’s box, causing quite a stir.

We can believe. I like McClendon as the manager. Hubby thought he should have been named AL Manager of the Year; due to what he did for that team in one season.

It was a good Spring Training - listened/watched to a lot of baseball.

Amazed how many pitchers blew out their arms.

I think the Pirates and Indians will be solid this year. And Seattle. The Yankees not so much.

I wonder how baseball in Florida fares long term.

I do like the Redbird’s announcer John Rooney - calls a good game. Always liked Lanny Frattare from Pittsburgh. Greg Brown does a capable job as replacement.

It used to be that the first game of the season always included the Cincinnati Reds. Why was that stopped? Because the people in charge don’t like traditions?
