Chris Wallace should probably stick to grilling Republican presidential candidates.
Somehow, during a radio interview with conservative host Mike Gallagher on Friday, the Fox News Sunday host got pulled into a discussion about former American Idol star Kelly Clarksons weight. The two men were discussing Little Caesars bacon-wrapped crust pizza when Gallagher brought up fat shaming.
Have you seen Kelly Clarkson? You know the singer, Kelly Clarkson? Gallagher asked Wallace. Holy cow, did she blow up.
At first, it seemed that Wallace was going to avoid joining in on this bizarre line of questioning, saying he thinks Clarkson has got a lovely voice. But then, he let this comment slip: She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a little while.
Listen to audio below, via The Mike Gallagher Show:
Coincidentally, Clarkson appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, where she spoke out about her struggles with weight issues after giving birth to her first daughter last June.
I think what hurts my feelings for people is that Ill have a meet and greet after the show and a girl whos like bigger than me will be in the meet and greet and be like, Wow, if they think youre big I must be so fat to them, Clarkson told Ellen DeGeneres. And its like, youre just who you are. We are who we are whatever size. And it doesnt mean that were gonna be that forever.
Sometimes Im more fit and I get into kickboxing hardcore, she added. And then sometimes I dont and Im like
Id rather have wine.
I guess all that makes you better than the fat people.
It doesn’t make me better or worse than anyone-I said how someone chooses to look, act or be is their business entirely-but be honest about it-real physical problems like thyroid and other issues aside, if that is your choice don’t blame it on other people or factors. Everyone has access to healthy food and nutritional information-there is no “food desert”, no matter what liberals say...
Ahh, the Golden Age of Moms! Mine, too. Too busy with real life to worry about looking like some Hollywood diva!
I saw her on Idol last week. Noticed she was chunky, but her pipes are still superior. She also struck me as a real, down-to-earth, person instead of a faux-glitz snob. Even exclaimed that if she had to go against a crew like they currently host, she wouldn’t have had a chance. Was cute when one of the guys hit an area of the song he was going to compete with and she blurted, “I think I’m pregnant”. She’s ma married Mom and I haven’t heard a single peep of any scandal about her - goes to show how shallow some folks can be.
Weight is not superficial...it’s unhealthly. And seriously so.
She must be planning to move to minnesota where she will fit right in.
All the comments revolve around her looks, not her increased risk of heart disease.
She had a baby. Does that count?
Because Liberals make judgement calls along the way ... precisely that “being fat”, “being a smoker” etcetera is unhealthy and shows lack of restraint. Being gay, however is just fine, no problem.
