I’ve tried the different cartridge brands - all much the same.

For the last year, I’ve had the absolute closest shaves from DE blades - specifically using the “Feathers” blades from Japan. Feathers makes ultra-high quality medical blades and they are considered the sharpest in the world.

eBay has a Feathers starter kit of 5 blades and their entry level plastic handle razor that has a moderate shaving angle. Nice intro into DE shaving.

Blades can be purchased in packs that cost ~ 30 cents/blade and each blade easily lasts 1 week or more depending on your beard.

Personally, I use Feathers blades and the 3-piece “Edwin Jagger” Chatsworth with the long 4” faux ivory handle.

I also HIGHLY recommend the Italian shaving soap “Cella” in a red plastic tub - light years beyond gels, foams, etc. The ABSOLUTE best!!!!
