I grew up with the old hymns.

In my teens and 20's I "needed" the cooler, more modern and upbeat songs.

Today, I loath most of the contemporary stuff and rejoice with the old hymns.

The old hymns have a depth to them.

The newer stuff seems to be the same phrase repeated, ad nauseam.

I just left Youtube where I listened to half a dozen versions of "The Palms" which I am sure we will not hear in church today.

I've actually considered being "very late" for service, coming in during the last of the 45 minute Tomlin/Smith etc. songs so I can hear the message live.
