Groom Kang Hu was left so disappointed after seeing his bride for the first time that he he attempted to drown himself.
‘I feel bad about what happened but when I saw her she wasn’t what I had expected and I realised she would be bad for my image,’ he said after being fished from a river.

Everyone is focused on him. Imagine how she must have felt... on what is supposed to be the happiest day of her life. Utter humiliation. My heart goes out to her. I’m sure she knows she isn’t a beauty, but she was hoping for a happy start to a decent lifetime with a good man, and the most beautiful ceremony of her lifetime... and she got that instead. Prayers for her.

You're right. She's much better off without him, but it still has to hurt.
Same thing happened with Henry VIII and Anne of Cleaves. Well, at least Mr. Tudor didn't try to commit suicide. I think he ended up killing Thomas Cromwell for fixing them up though...

Shame on that reporter for referring to her as “ugly bride”! He could have worded it differently- the one who was really unattractive was the superficial jerk who was more worried about his image than his life and another persons feelings... “Stupid is as stupid does.” I still say she’s better off without him.
