So, it’s been expanding for billions of years and
will probably slow and remain stable for billions of
years and then take billions of years to collapse.
Meh. I should worry?

The American Debt is so big that the Imaginary Numbers that the fed is messing with has caused a divide by zero error in the universe itself, leading to a crash....
Seems Legit!

"... s a group of physicists have theorized a mechanism for "cosmological collapse" which predicts the universe will at some point stop expanding and then collapse back onto itself, destroying us and pretty much all matter." ... in which case, the Planck Temperature moment of infinite heat causes the Big Bang to reoccur, rebuilding the universe anew. Like a firing piston. Lather, rinse, repeat, forever. The same physics model of our observable universe is regenerated infinitely.
Therefore, as in the case of infinite monkeys sat before infinite typewriters eventually creating the works of William Shakespeare, the consciousness that you now possess in reading this has lived before, and will again, precisely as you now sit with your exact same surroundings. It's just a matter of time, time which resets on every new generation of the universe and it will never stop.
But we've had this conversation before. And will again. You may go through countless other lives as any number of exotic things in far off parts of the universe, but we'll eventually meet here again just as we are now.
I merely presume that God gives us infinite chances to rise to the next level, whatever that may be. Something outside our continually collapsing and rebuilding universe, I wonder. Do a lousy job of following God's law and you have to start back at square one.

"The fact that we are seeing dark energy now could be taken as an indication of impending doom..." Since when, Sparky? The only 'evidence' of dark matter comes from lensing and that is only based upon observed mass of galactic clusters. Lots more out there to be discovered, but dark matter is still the unicorn of astronomy.
