WHITESBURG, Ky (WYMT) - Health officials in Letcher County are taking their efforts to raise awareness about colon cancer to new heights.
They set up a 20-foot-long inflatable colon at the rec center in Whitesburg.
It is all in an effort to teach people the importance of getting screened for the cancer.
Ashley Teague, with the Kentucky Cancer Program, said the health fair included several booths on how to live a healthier life.
"What we really recommend is eating healthy. That is one big thing that we do not do around here. We need diets high in fruit and vegetables and we need to limit red meat," said Teague.
Reanna Elswick and her nursing class from Jenkins High School stopped by the event on Thursday.
"We talk about it a lot in class and we understand that cancer is very dangerous. It is a re-occuring problem in Letcher County," said Elswick.
Doctors recommend having a colonoscopy at age 50.
is an Inflatable Colon enough to pass toll=free through the carpool lane?
or do you need a full blow=up doll?
just curious...
They had to take it down. Democrats kept popping out.
“They love their colons.” - Chris Plante
They had a huge, walk through colon in Union Station for a while — the anus was no more than 10 ft from a sandwich shop.
Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that since the porn industry started pushing anal sex like it was normal and healthy, there has been a marked increase in the number of cases of colon cancer.
At the “rec center” henceforth called the Rectum Center.
No one said you had to be a genius to get attention...just an asshole
