Beheading and ceremonial display of the victim's noggin' was a standard way of dealing with high-ranking war prisoners. The Mayans were geniuses at obsidian-knapping. They made both intricate objects for religious rites out of volcanic glass and ultra-sharp knives for such tasks as beheading as well. It's hard for me to ignore that connection.
If you take another look, does it appear he is pulling a chain with the right hand while sitting on a throne—and is that his left hand pulling a narrow strip of toilet paper from a dispenser on the wall between him and the other guy who is preparing a peep hole in the wall?
I love the Ancient Alien shows because they always demonstrate some theory with a question.

Ancient Aliens is one of my favorite guilty pleasures — it’s at least five times as entertaining than any of the BS “talent” (singing, dancing, fake sports) unreality shows on any networks, and visit or at least broadcast file photos of places and things which don’t normally get any airtime at all.
Those Mayan books were the original graphic novels, a.k.a. comic books, so, it figures. ;’)
I noticed the dude did appear to be in the process of toileting, but wanted to stay classy. You know, thought it might impress some of the ladies around here.
When you get to my age, comments that might not be classy for young bucks are just passed off as eccentric. :-)
