To the contrary, this article is likely very much on the level. The temporary marriage is very commonplace in Shi’a Islam, particularly as practiced in Iran. I believe the article makes clear Fairuza is Shi’a, and the name itself is in fairly common use by Persians.
Do a quick Google search on “Mut’ah” and/or temporary marriage in Islam, and you might be surprised. Don’t think it’s not happening in the U.S., either, if it’s happening in the UK.

In my experience, mut’ah ALSO requires an Imam.
