No browsers are safe as proved yesterday at Pwn2Own, but crashing one of them with just one line of special code is slightly different. A developer has discovered a hack in Google Chrome which can crash the Chrome tab on a Mac PC.
The code is a 13 character special string which appears to be written in Assyrian script
*break*
Matt C has reported the bug to Google, who have marked the report as duplicate. This means that Google are aware of the problem and are reportedly working on it.

This is a special bug that works only in one particular configuration, but can be passed along using social media such as Twitter it appears.
Wonder if it would work as a posting here on FR...

I don’t understand how this is a “hack” or how it shows that “No browsers are safe”.
It doesn’t display the page.
I can see it as a bug, but...

I’ts a “hack” because some people have found a way to deliberately crash your machine, and it shows that no browsers are safe because to date it appears that there is no “perfect” browser out there as any of them can fail in one way or another.
(Just not so much on Opera, that is. So Far...)

I think that’s more of an available-memory problem, actually.

Yes it is!
Running Adobe hotoshop, Lightoom.. Flash Professional.. Illustrator, and Dreamweaver and an whole slew of browsers can be a tad taxing,.
FR makes it easy to open one after another tab...and I just never seem to get around to closing them...in time..

ts a hack because some people have found a way to deliberately crash your machine,But it doesn't crash my machine, the browser tab doesn't render, that's all. It doesn't even affect other tabs, nor cause the browser to crash/quit.
no browsers are safe because to date it appears that there is no perfect browser out there as any of them can fail in one way or another
Not safe and not perfect are quite different things.

Ha! I sneer at your paltry pills. My Linda does that whenever she wants to afterwards, with the appropriate sleepwear making it impossible to say ‘no’ to her beforehand.

There was a time when this was true...not anymore, since they switched from 68k/PPC to AMD64 (that’s the instruction set for all modern 64-bit processors, regardless of foundry—Intel had to cross-licence it from AMD!)

FR makes it easy to open one after another tab...and I just never seem to get around to closing them...in time.. Well, yeah. FR is mostly text; I've visited FR using Internet Explorer 4 (mostly when working on my x86 micro-controller designs, for which I am targeting Win3.1/WinNT 3.51 on the 80386EX)
