The "47" have received a lot of heat and a lot of support. The Logan Act was established in 1799 and forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. Does it apply here in 2015? AND what do the Iranians make of all of this? Gateway-TCR writers wonder what -- and how -- our governments will be negotiating in 2064. What do you think? Seems to me they think the 47 Senators are clowns.
“The Logan Act was established in 1799 and forbids unauthorized citizens...”
Our representatives are not unauthorized citizens.
An “unathorized citizen” would have been John F’n Kerry betraying his country to the North Vietnamese in the Seventies.
The leftist fags never cease to amaze me. They trash the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Right but get their Huggies in a wad over something called “The Logan Act”. Being full of sh*t and doing recreational drugs is making them crazy.
What kind of a stupid question is that? Who cares what they think of 47 Senators?
Congress is co-equal to the executive branch, sounds pretty authoritative to me
The Logan Act (1 Stat. 613, 18 U.S.C. § 953, enacted January 30, 1799 (1799-01-30)) is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from NEGOTIATING with foreign governments having a dispute with the U.S.
The last time I checked, the 47 patriotic Senators were NOT NEGOTIATING with Iran. But I guess why let truth spoil a good progressive/leftist/anti-American party.

Leaders we must deal with! 76%
Seditious clowns! 24%
Bummer! They don’t have an option for “Who gives a crap what they think”.
The Logan Act was passed at the same time and for the same reasons as the Alien and Sedition Acts. Purpose was to squash dissent against the Federalist national government.
Very odd to see liberals embracing it.
Sorry, Congress is not co-equal to the other two branches.
Whenever it decides to, it has very nearly absolute power over the other two branches of government.
Because congress is the direct representative of the people... Yeaaaaaah!
From my understanding, the famous “letter” was NEVER actually sent to Iran, it only appeared on a social media site, never having been delivered. Indeed it caused a stir but was never officially mailed.
Further, who really cares what the Iranian leaders think, its more about what our future leaders will do, are they bluffing or not?
Right now it has chosen to be less equal
