That’s nothing compared to the giant catifsh I caught below the dam at Lake Barkley, Ky. Easily a ton and a half. Hooked it on a pocket fisherman with steel leaders. It took two backhoes and a bulldozer using steel cable to pull it to shore. It fed an entire city for three weeks during the blizzard of ‘78 - saved a lot of lives those fillets did. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Around here, hunting and fishing puts food on the table. It isn’t about bragging rights.

I come from poor folks myself who fished for table protein but it didn’t stop them from bragging.

I never caught a Sturgeon but while fishing on the Connecticut River I spotted one in a canal swimming back and forth, I estimated it was about 7 ft long ,not sure of the weight but it was an amazing sight. Found out later it’s not legal to catch them. They are pretty rare.

Sturgeon are common in the rivers and sloughs in the west. I have seen a 10 ft Sturgeon caught in the Columbia river OR/WA.
