Most of the incidents I hear about involve Glocks.

Perhaps because Glock is one of the most common handguns on earth. With a normal distribution of idiots, there must be plenty who have access to Glocks, unfortunately. Also, to the media, every handgun is a Glock, and every rifle is an AK15 or AR-47.

We get stories every waterfowl season about dogs who shoot their owners. Human sets his "hot" shotgun on the ground while he does something "more important". Excited doggie dances around, steps on/in trigger guard. BOOM. New doggie owner needed.

By any definition: premature ejaculation with a Glock = negligent discharge. Oops.

Glocks are awesome at the range and in the hands of experienced shooters but really a poor choice for concealed carry especially in a handbag.

Mr. GG2 has not shot me even once with his Springfield Armory .40 cal and I have not shot him even once with my Keltec PMR 30. Because they have safety’s.

Which is why IMO Glock should package a holster with their guns the way other manufacturers do.

because of the safety in the trigger. if something gets inside the trigger guard it can press the trigger guard AND pull the trigger. personally i thought the design is too open to accidental discharges under high stress situations when a finger is in the guard but not firing. as police are known to do.

“He was sleeping.

The phone rang.

He answered the Glock.

He is no longer taking calls.”

Sounds like an easy way to explain a suicide. Suicides committed with guns are over 30 times as common as fatal gun accidents.

Sounds odd to me. Sounds like something happened that’s not being mentioned.

I know Glocks are supposed to be safe, but what proportion of unintentional discharges are Glocks compared to other pistols?

They are popular because they fire reliably and are priced decently - lots of them out there.

Just as with this story, it's hard to determine what made it go off, but I presume that the trigger was actuated.

It's likely it was in her loaded purse w/o a holster and no telling what might have been shifted against the trigger. Loaded with one in the chamber is the way to go, but one mustn't become lackadaisical.

Fired lots of rounds through Glocks and never had one just "go off on its own".

I agree. I appreciate wanting to be protected, but for God’s sake just don’t toss them naked into a bag.

Now she will lose her gun, she needs a new bag, and she scared the crap out of folks.

She needs a new purse, and a couple of knees too.

Well, most of the time, anyway.
