Colin Powell Still Sees 'Dark Vein' of Intolerance in GOP
By Ben Bell
Speaking on the day following the 50-year anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" in Selma, Alabama, the first African-American Secretary of State Colin Powell said he still sees a "dark vein" of intolerance in the Republican Party, echoing comments that he made in 2013.
"I still see it. I still see it in the Republican Party and I still see it in other parts of our country. You don't have to be a Republican to be touched by this dark vein," Powell told ABC's George Stephanopoulos Sunday on "This Week."

Colon either overlooks, or is ignorant to, the fact that the abolition of slavery was a central plank in the platform of the early Republican Party.
None so blind . . .
“Yes I see what you are saying, but why is he mentioning Republicans first and foremost when Democrats are the intolerant and racist ones by far? “
I agree. Probably the answer is predicated a lot on the question, as well.
Eg,
Q: “General, are the Republicans dirty rotten racists?”
A: “I see racism in the Republicans but also it is everywhere else. It’s not unique to Republicans”.
Headline: “General Slams Republicans as Racist”.
Powell plays in the Dog and Pony show and knows who butters his bread.
“Dog for and against both sides and all.”
And by the way, above was supposed to be:
“Dog whistle for and against both sides, and all.”
In other words, such an interview and article provides enough something for all sides to get riled up a bit without actually imparting any useful information or opinion.
Just like there is a bright vein of intolerance in many Democrats and liberals. Expresses itself daily. Just listen to what they say or write. Those two groups are despicable.
Just another case of Liberal Projection
Blacks are the most racists group in America, including Colon Bowel.
The Freesoil party was the short lived transitional party (1848to 1854) that provided the catalyst for the formation of the GOP. The Free Soil Party contended that slavery undermined the dignity of labor and inhibited social mobility, and was therefore fundamentally undemocratic. Viewing slavery as an economically inefficient, obsolete institution, Free Soilers believed that slavery should be contained, and that if contained it would ultimately disappear. They supported opening the west to expansion while prohibiting slavery in the newly opening lands and slavery would collapse under its own weight.
Their motto.
“Free soil, free speech, free labor, and free men.”
Dark Helmet? That's spaceist.
There are no laws that support racism. In fact there are many laws that promote opportunity for minorities. There is no institutional racism.
If there are people who harbor racism in their hearts and minds that is their private and personal prerogative. How dare anyone demand the right to control thought. "Dark vein" indeed, Colin harbors dark veins of intolerance. His intolerance of intolerant attitudes is tyranny.
Any person in this society has the inalienable right to hate whoever they choose. I hate the intolerance of those who teach tolerance but will not tolerate those who disagree with them, Colin included.
“Colin Powell Still Sees ‘Dark Vein’ of Intolerance “
He’s apparently blinded by the lily white ass of affirmative action.
It’s simply not possible for me to care any less.
He is a product of Affirmative Action from the beginning. Few Americans are veterans or Municipal employees or retired. I will tell you Affirmative Action is totally endemic in those entities. The idea is that all forms of authority must and will be turned over to them. That is their goal. When it happens and has been happening since at least 1972 it’s game over. Mugabe comes to mind. Back to Europe you go white boy. I’ll be dead before then but pity my offspring and you and yours.

Fire dept. is racist but not corrections.......
Where's the $98 million for white corrections officers? Oh that's right, there aren't any.
Nor hospital workers, or the traffic dept which are 99% "minority". I was told to my face in 1986 after working at Flushing hospital as a "temp cleaner" for 2 years I could not get in the 1199 Hospital workers union because I was white. Where's my $98 million dollars?
Here is the offence I think. Most people here might think it’s unfair for veterans preference in gov jobs. I’m sorry, I like veterans preference. When I was honorably discharged, I thought for sure the navy yard would hire me but they were on the hiring minority thing like crazy at that point. Personally I was really hurt, but years later the yard shut down due gov cutbacks and I thought maybe it was a blessing I wasn’t hired.
Luckily, the local Municipality still wanted Veterans
Luckily for me, I was able to retire young live in a rural area still be frugal with hopefully a sustainable pension with no COLA.
Texas truly is a great state you need to come.
So Colin Powell are people free to have opinions that you don’t agree with? Are people free enough to choose who they associate with. This racism behind every door is getting old. If some members of the Republican Party members are tired of your benefitting from your color while you claim racism does that make us racist or just tired of your same old shit.
