I found three Freepers (in the last 24 hours that prior to a few days ago (10 days at the most) have not been active in a very long time...... At least a year and a half or more. The other two Freepers have no posts for 7 years and 3 years.That can’t be me. I post everyday (and often pay the price for it - LoL!) Working online from home, FRee Republic is like the water-cooler.

You haven’t been around long enough to know this, but they’re not hijacked. They’re deliberate. They’re sleepers. I’ve seen plenty of them. Name I don’t recognise, look up the signup date, it’s several years old, and they have one post.
I got this recently from another freeper:
“Are you serious? I doubt it. In fact I think you are most non-serious, and are probably a paid disruptor from some progressive boiler room.”
After 17 years he caught me! The pay is not great but the temp in the boiler room is great in winter.

The hijacked accounts that I have run across have been accounts of posters that have passed away and left computers signed into FR. One young man, years ago, admitted it was his father’s account.
I discovered a couple of weeks ago that some butthead had hacked my tag line to make the late Lee Sherman Dreyfus look bad. The liberals in Wisconsin hated him when he was governor. He wouldn’t back down from them and made them look like the fools they were.

They may have been in their hands all along, there are accounts here that come alive at various times, like election time, and someone then will post 24/7. So they are being operated by several people not just a single person.
Thank you. I have suspected for *years* that accounts have been hijacked or stolen by Media Matters trolls and shills. It is especially noteworthy when these perps have early signup dates. I suspect that they have taken over abandoned accounts.
I have noticed over the past year several posts that seem to have come out of nowhere from names I have never seen before and when checking them out found the same thing- no posts in years. Lefties used to be allowed. I remember debating with a couple of them who could actually argue without resorting to name calling. Then the newer lefties became more and more irrational and shrill till they all got cut off.
I Read Free Republic Daily, Donate regularly, but post only on occasion. On my posts, I have been accused regularly of being a Troll, a Spy, etc. A few years ago I would have just considered these accusers garden variety nut jobs. Unfortunately, nowadays, our worst nightmares of evil government, monitored communications, etc have all come TRUE! I can’t say I even blame the accusers, considering where we are today.
I rarely post because some times I get jumped on by other members here for posting something that has already been posted. You know, stuff like that, so I just stay silent most of the time. But I do come here to read over the headlines.
