My Dad, career Army officer, had all of Sousa’s marches on a Sony reel-to-reel stereo he picked up on one of his all-inclusive overseas vacations.

Believe his favorite was the ‘Captain’s March’. He would recline and pretend to conduct.

When I read the signs, I would tap my brother on the shoulder and tell him we were going to McDonald’s, and no argument from little bro’. He knew Pop was settling in for a head banging mini-Sousa concert.

My dad had Sousa marches, and “circus” marches, on an LP that he would put on, on his “hi-fi” and play them LOUD. I would get behind the couch and fall asleep. I LOVED listening to that music. When he died in 1997, my siblings made sure I got the record album. Have not listened to it since, but it is on the bookshelf in our family room.
