Last year, the last pieces of ice on the Great Lakes didn't melt until June 11 - just 10 days before summer. This year, we could see ice on the lakes into July.
When this much ice sits on the Great Lakes this late into the year, the waters in summer are cooler, which lends itself to faster freezing when winter returns.
If this trend keeps up, we will see ice on the Great Lakes year round and this will accelerate the cooling.
At various points during the Earth's life, most of the North American continent was covered by sheets of ice a mile thick. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as "Ice Ages".
Well, this is how an Ice Age begins.
More ice = less lake effect = less for me to shovel.

The mainstream media tries to pretend that ice remained on Lake Superior only into June.
How about July?asks reader E Stephens.
We should name icebergs still floating in Lake Superior in July after infamous AGW scientists. This one is Gavin, says Tilly LaCampagne via Twitter.
