For some reason I am interested in Indian Military history. It just fascinates me.
Maybe it's the high altitudes they fight at, maybe it is the extreme austerity they must tolerate.

I remember a story about the Gurkha Rifles from a WW2 Army AF guy. He briefed a bunch of Gurkhas about a coming airborne attack on a Japanese stronghold in the CBI Theater. The faces of the Gurkgas were ashen. At the end of the briefing, he added: “If you'll assemble your men, we will begin parachute training.” Astonishment in the eyes of the Gurkhas: “You mean we're using parachutes?” They thought they were jumping from low flying planes and couldn't understand how anyone was going to survive!
