Ever dig through a foot of snow to find hard ground to pitch your tent in a campground in January in Garrett County, Maryland when you were 14 years old? Do you remember 'Outdoor School' when you were in 6th grade? Hiking the trails and learning about mountain laurel, May Apples, and spearmint leaves?

Interesting to hear about the original March of Dimes and their fight against polio. FDR was, of course, a “poster child,” for polio, even though most Americans did not realize that he could not stand or walk. Polio was not conquered until the vaccines after World War II. Today we have a new anti-vaccine movement because Americans have forgotten such epidemic diseases.
