Valentine's Day: Did any FReepers enjoy time with their Daughters today?
Feb. 14, 2015 | Vanity

I didn't see any FReeper Valentine's day stories, which usually means hanging out with your significant other (ie. Honey).

Anyone here hang out with their lovely daughters today?

Been spending my days (and nights) with my newborn daughter. Every day is a Valentine’s day!

"All our children are precious, we love them and then they grow up and go away...and we pray... "

It's interesting how that affects different people. 70's music and military bases twist my heartstrings a funny way -- always makes me think of when my dad was young. It's a part of every single life, but it's been hard watching my larger-than-life, rigorous, handsome dad get beaten down into a tired old man. For all that he's still in good health, praise the Lord.

Daddies make great valentines.

I called and wished my dad a happy valentines day. Mom held the phone to his ear and when I told him I loved him, he said thank you with a smile in his voice. He has Alzheimer’s and can’t talk much but he knows I love him.

What a lovely thread to post....

Although I’m a mom and not a dad, I can still say that daughters are indeed very special.

My grown daughter married her high-school sweetheart and they have given me 3 little grandchildren. It means the world to me to have them close by, as they have a farm just 20 minutes away. She’s thoughtful, kind, and fun to be around - as is her very sweet husband.

You sound like a wonderful dad. God bless you.

Awesome, PROCON!!

Our daughter is 15 going on 30 ;); I am a reporter and had to cover something tonight, but my husband made a very nice dinner and we all had a meal at the table at the same time (shocker!!) and we gave the kids (Gilly and her older brother Chris, 19), some delicious chocolate treats.

It seems like life is on fast forward after you have children.

I am so happy you got to spend time with “your girl” (I always called Gilly that when she was a baby), Happy Valentines to you and yours! Julie

p.s., I am sure she appreciated you drove over five hours to spend time with her...

I went to a daddy, daughter dance last night (Friday) with my 10 yr old grand daughter ... I hat a date with a cute little blond.

Folks ... I had a good (enough) time, but I tell ya' ...

The dance was put on by the school and the teachers were leaders in those line dances (which I don't do, and thankfully, neither does my GD ... and the music was almost all THUMP, THUMP, THUMP crap

I had to request Joe Cocker .. You Are So Beautiful .. so I could embarrass her on the floor and actually sing to her

The daddys were all standing around embarrassed or something (I guesstimate maybe a hundred "couples" (the entire elementary schoo was invited) so that's a lot of guys not knowing what to do during the thump, thump, thump

Total slow songs ... 4 ... in a two hour period

I'm a school board firector ... next meeting Feb 19 ... one more apple cart for me to push over

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours, Judy! It is so wonderful you have grandchildren close by. My boss has five, and every time his kids walk in, little ones in tow, his face brightens like the sun.

Grandchilden—all of the fun and none of the work! LOL! :)

Well, yes I did as a matter of fact, but mostly because of the grandkids, that is her son and daughter. Naturally, they are the focus of most of the action, but I did hang out with my daughter today!

So happy Valentines Day to you and everybody, and God bless us every one.

I was at the trap range today with one of my daughters. She shot a shotgun first time 5 weeks ago. Went five rounds of 25 today. Her two highest were an 18 and a 19. (It’s not bragging when dad does it. Right!?)

Wife and I had a lovely dinner Saturday evening, prepared by our 50 yr old daughter and her husband.

Today we all head up to “Happy Valley” to do belated Valentine’s with their elder daughter, our granddaughter at PSU, who was born on Feb. 14th 21 years ago.

God is SO good.

My DIL is from Hawaii.

The wedding took place there and we had a traditional Chinese wedding feast at the reception.

It was lovely.

Daughters-in-law are as terrific as daughters.

Awwww.... that is so sweet, Procon. I loved your story. For what it is worth.. she will always remember that day! Always. I can only imagine your drive back home was bitter sweet.. enjoying the day but remembering when you danced with her while she stood on your feet. Hugs...

Boo Yah!

Morning.

Take her to Lucques in Beverly Hills for brunch/lunch. I recommend the patio and whatever specialty drink they are serving. It’s different every month and better than simple Mimosa.

relaxed atmosphere, just really terrific food with great service.

The wait staff have all the knowledge you require about anything on the menu but, a soft touch about it. They’re not snobs and won’t drone on.

They are also accomodating about special requests.

Food is wonderful and plated so as to invite the eyes to take it in just before you your mouth savors whatever is delish.

Won’t weigh you down and of course it’s a Susan Goin restaurant, so how could you go wrong.

Here is a quick link to the view as you walk up, view in and then the patio:

second table in, against the wall, is generally I like to sit. You can take in the people, environment and not be smothered or off in a distant corner.

Or take her to Aroma’s on Sunset.

Don’t go to “Pump” in West Hollywood.

It is only a destination restaurant because of it’s location and the draw of the owners notoriety.

Loved the patio but, other than that the service was not particularly snappy and one of the owners was there. Nice guy.

Food wasn’t anything interesting. The tuna tartare was an old recipe but, just not executed well.

Go if you want to knock it off your list but, there are way better restaurants within 10 minutes.

Still, it was fun but, not going to be my first choice.
