I did some work in New Guinea. It was odd to have that as a nickname among the native workers! They said jokingly. I think. I always thought it to mean just white meat - but I am probably wrong on that.

How did they determine that these men were supposedly Christians? I’ve never heard of Christians who were cannibals or who carried amulets—that sounds like some form of animism.

I’m sure there’s plenty of atrocities to go around, but it sounds like the person was grabbed randomly because they profiled him as a muslim, and in the manner of tribalism/group rights it’s considered acceptable to grab any member of the tribe of the person who wronged you if you cannot catch the actual perp...
Poor guy probably had nothing to do with what happened to this man’s family.
I suppose his relatives are going to want revenge too.
