Another great collaboration from Edward G. and Fritz Lang. The really interesting thing about Scarlet Street is that despite recycling many of the elements of WITW - the film could not be more different in tone and feel. Scarlet is darker, seedier, and with far fewer heroes. Everybody seems to have some dirt under the fingernails, so to speak. The film's climax would not be out of place in a good German opera. 8/10
