He should stay home. I wager that everyone involved will find some face saving way to cancel, maybe call it reschedule, until some time after the Israeli election and maybe with the joint participate of everyone.

There are some indications that this is really causing a lot of trouble for Bibi in Israel where many have appreciated Democrat support over the years and now see failure to coordinate between Rs and Ds as potentially very dangerous to Israel. Here is a quote from one discussion of the topic I was reading:

“Even a small movement against the Likud could lead to some other party getting to form the next government. Instead of Bibi running a victory lap just before the elections, now they’ve been doing damage control on this for a couple of weeks.
Hanegbi’s spent his whole career as a political hack, going back to his time in college (and yeah, he’s been on my radar for that long). He doesn’t do nuance.
Ambassador Dermer is another political hack, and a former US Republican operative to boot. [It appears he had to give up his US citizenship in order to take this post.] He and the Speaker’s Office got their signals straight and told the same story: that it was Boehner that get snowed. Dermer clearly did not want to burn bridges with Boehner or the Republican leadership. Hanegbi’s radio interview — a forum that was likely campaign related — is political damage control related to their elections.
In Israel, this story is decreasingly about Iran, and increasingly about how badly Netanyahu is mismanaging US relations by undermining long cultivated non-partisan support for Israeli in the US Congress. It’s the last thing that the Likud wants to talk about right now, but the story won’t go away. They’re starting to panic.”

I don’t know how true all this is, but is certainly worth finding out more about. For sure any war that we might get into with Iran is going to be even worse than the Iraq debacle.

Why should he wait after the election? He is the current Prime Minister of Israel. Why is it any of our business when their election is taking place, and why should that decide whether he can speak or not?

Unless of course, the ones who don't want him to speak are hoping and working for him to be defeated so that the next administration there will not be opposed to a nuclear armed Iran, and call them out on their foolishness.
