I cannot verify the source, but some anthropologists believe that humans did not domesticate dogs. Dogs decided to make humans part of their pack.

After five Golden Retrievers and three Doberman, I believe it.

I only have one pup right now, old English Bulldog, but she allows us to be part of her pack.

Sounds plausible - dogs were probably thinking "Hey, those guys are real good at coming up with food, let's join up with them!". The Scooby Snack strategy.
