The EPA? Are you serious? Why in the world would a Pope, a sovereign leader, have anything to do with the US EPA? That makes absolutely no logical sense.

It doesn't make sense, but it the EPA administrator was at the Vatican for consult about the environmental encyclical. Seriously, I understand why Catholics who defend this Pope get all up in arms, but do your homework. Search FR.

As a Freeper, your intellect should be made of heartier stuff.

My intellect is fine, after your a search, lets see about that apology. Once your intellect has become heartier.

So I read a couple of different articles about (Ms?) Gina McCarthy.

Yes, she did visit with the Pope, and according to The National Catholic Register, this was the reason:

Papal support has also been sought by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. EPA administrator Gina McCarthy came to meet Vatican officials Jan. 31, with the aim of showing how aligned President Barack Obama and Pope Francis are on climate change. McCarthy shared in a press conference that global warming is a public threat, but also a chance for economic opportunity.

The document he is working on is due out in June. Further, the Holy See’s contribution, again according to the article, is:

The Holy See’s position is likely to be focused on two key topics: the need for a sustainable development and the duty to protect.

“This latter may be defined as the duty to protect populations from war or the duty to protect creation from exploitation,” a Vatican official expert in environmental issues explained to CNA Thursday.

“The encyclical’s main themes will likely be based on the twin pillars of a duty to protect and sustainable development, as well as human ecology.”

Just because he took a meeting with her, doesn’t make him a tool of a US agency, or its political masters. If you think the Pope is a tool of anybody, you are quite mistaken.

Let’s return to the issue of the thread, which was an incorrect statement made by the AP indicating the Pope called the Earth, “...the mother of everything.”

It has since been proven incorrect, yet none of the pillorying that followed by various Freepers has been retracted.

At least I took the opportunity to research your statements and acknowledge them. Will no one else?
