The rifle should be hitting store shelves sometime in March 2015.

Rotary mag, very much like a 10-22.

Yes, but how scarce will the ammunition be and how expensive?

I own 3 semi-auto 22 wmr, one of them is almost 50 years old and works like a charm still, (Kodiak) and two 10-22 semi-autos with the factory rotary 7 shot (I think) magazine.
Don’t know why they seem to think this is new or something.

Yeah. They just came out with a bolt gun that uses it. Same fugly stock design with the built-in polymer trigger guard.

Right now when you can find it it’s about $20 for a box of 50. I have several hundred rounds squirreled away but I still grab some of the Hornady when I come across it, just because.

I wonder if an AR upper couldn’t be made for the same money.

Doesn’t CZ make a semi-auto .22 Mag? Gun writers are paid-for hacks.

Sounds very cool... I don't want to sound too critical of these new .17 calibers 'cause there are those who like them because of the flat trajectory or whatever...
Are they gonna make a .22WMR? That would be most excellent IMO, 'specially with the Savage adjustable trigger and a 30 round magazine. And rails for an optic sight and maybe a light.
And a threaded barrel...
Just speaking for myself, mind you.

The original 10-22 used a 10 shot mag. (I have one with xtra mags)
With one in the chamber, it can fire eleven shots.

" Same fugly stock design with the built-in polymer trigger guard. "Well that blows. Seems like they sell stuff at a price point and find kinda squirrely ways of doing it sometimes, which is a shame. Lots of people really like their 110 action, for example, but they often use those uh, inexpensive stocks... ram-line or whatever...

Seems like I was at the CZ site just recently and saw a .22wmr auto.

Don’t most semi-auto .22 WMR guns have a reputation for being jam-o-matics?

I think Boyd’s makes a bunch of stocks for Savage. I’ve seen the 93R17 with a variety of wooden stocks, but I couldn’t find one at their (Boyd’s)site. The composite 93R17 retails for about $150, the thumbhole laminate for about $350. I’ve seen $500 setups at gunshows.

Looks like fun.
And MSRP is supposed to be somewhere below $500.

I think Savage can lay claim to the original rotary with the Model 99. The Johnson line of military weapons also used a rotary mag.
