Concealment creates curiosity and the imagination takes over.

Thus the value of the burqa?

There is a fundamental difference between wearing the attractive clothing of one’s choice that is sufficiently modest to engender mystery and curiosity and the enforced tyranny of a big bag, without which a woman is subject to beatings and worse.

All actions have consequences. Strolling through the streets of America ( or Walmart) dressed like a prostitute will provoke a certain usually predictable response. Dressing modestly and situationally appropriately will engender a different response ( and not only just from men.)

Currently American women are ( mostly) free to choose how to adorn their bodies, unlike millions of women in the Arab world who must wear shrouds not to hide their femininity but their humanity. Now, an American woman is free to exit her home wearing a madonna brassiere reminiscent of 1985 along with a miniskirt and no underwear rather than a knee length skirt and tasteful blouse. Her freedom to wear whatever she so chooses however does not negate the fact that other people’s responses to her will depend on which outfit makes it out of her closet.

IMO she’s like a vintage clothes reenactor wearing costumes. I think she looks great, but doing it 24/7, 365 that’s going to really typecast her if its done over a long period.
